Trey Songz: 'Some Dance Songs Are Amazing, Some Are Bulls**t'

Trey Songz has vowed to stay true to his R&B roots and not follow the popular dance trend dominating the charts on both sides of the atlantic.

The 'Heart Attack' singer has managed to maintain a classic R&B sound throughout his career, and while he has recorded some club bangers, Trey says he isn't keen on jumping on the bandwagon like artists such as Usher and Flo Rida.

"I'm not too big on following trends. Some dance songs are amazing, I think some of 'em are bulls**t. I'm not here to diss nobody, that's corny. I don't think it's all bad that some people are doing dance music," Trey exclusively told TaleTela in a recent interview.

"I love a lot of dance songs, they can be made great. But when it gets to the point that every song on the radio is a dance song, all of 'em can't be good.

"So I don't want to be caught up in the nature of jumping out of the window to do something just because it's a trend. I would rather sustain my place in the game with authenticity and try to do what it is I do, and if I do step into that world, have something about it that still makes it my own."

Rico Love talks about working with Trey

The producer Rico Love spoke with Billboard about his work with several artists like Usher, Diddy, Rick Ross or our Trey Songz, which speaks very well and says that not only is his producer, but is also his friend:

BILLBOARD: You've also worked with Trey Songz on his latest single "Heart Attack." How was it working with him? RICO LOVE: Trey is a friend. Trey is one of the coolest, most humble, and funniest people I know. I'm just happy about the relationship I'm building with him. He was open to a lot of the suggestions I had. At times he can be more hands on in terms of doing the song. But he was more open to what I had to say. It's doing so amazing at radio. I think it's going to be one of those crossover records he hasn't had in his career.

Trey admits "wishing" He Was Dating Kelly Rowland

Trey Songz has denied recent rumours that he is dating Kelly Rowland, but says he wishes they were together.
The crooner recently released the music video for his new single 'Heart Attack,' which stars Kelly as his leading lady, fuelling rumours that they are romantically involved.
However, while he claims they aren't together, Trey did gush about the stunning singer exclusively to TaleTela.
"It's definitely platonic, I wish it wasn't. She's amazing and I joke around with the idea of that, but all in all she's such an amazing friend," he told us.
"When she steps into a room, she makes the whole room glow, and she just has a spirit about her that she's really kind and she's always the same person everytime you meet her."
Sounds like Trey's a little bit smitten! Do you think they'd make a hot couple?

EXCLUSIVE: CHAPTER V DETAILS!!!

Today I have known many details of the new album of Trey Songz, Chapter V, but now I can only shew that there will be a special edition will contain a DVD, which you can see 5-10 songs that Trey filmed during his Anticipation 2our , among which are Cant Be Friends, Bottoms Up, Say aAh or Cant Help But Wait, but also will contain the performances of the songs featured on the Inevitable EP,What I Be On, Sex Aint better than Love and Top Of The World, the album is expected to out in late July early August if there is nothing unexpected. The promotion has started in Europe, now follows on United States. For June Trey plans to continue giving interviews on the United States and Canada, and continue to act in several festivals such as the "Hot 97 FM Summer Jam" and TV programs, plus surprise appearances on tours of some of his friends, but promotion will return to Europe in late June and act in the "Radio 1 Hackney Weekend" in London and will return to give interviews and partying with fans at exclusive parties. In July will be performing at the BET awards and could be the opening act for Nicki Minaj´s Pink Friday Tour.

Trey Songz showcases Chapter V in London | Album Preview

In the plush surrounds of private members club Home House in London, we eagerly await the opportunity to have one of the first public listens of Trey Songz‘ upcoming album, Chapter V.
Surrounded by draped walls, sumptuous textures, moody lighting and Trey Songz etched on the mirrors making sure that everyone – including the neighbours – know his name, following a brief introduction Mr ‘Steal Yo Girl’ sat down with the intimate crowd of no more than 30, and made us feel at home.

Dressed casually in all black everything, Trey oozes confidence and effortlessly commanded the attention of everyone in the room. Conscious and engaging, it’d be easy to forget that Trey is only 27 years old and by many standards, even almost five albums in, a newbie.
What stands out when you listen to Trey speak, is his profound love for his music and his craft.
Referring to himself as a ‘marketing guru’ who sees the way he promotes himself as a business, he thanked everyone including Trey’s Angels, for actively promoting and believing in his work. Actively doing what other artists don’t and always up for trying something new, the listening party was a new experience that we were glad to share.
At the London event Songz introduced six tracks from the upcoming album, Chapter V. The first, his latest ‘Heart Attack,’ produced by Benny Blanco and written by Rico Love needs no introduction, but for those of you who haven’t seen/heard it, the video featuring the beautiful Kelly Rowland is below for your viewing pleasure.

There were a couple of club tracks; ‘Two Reasons’ featuring T.I. and ‘Ladies Go Wild,” which that Trey wrote in the middle of a crazy party that included poles, a bunch of guys, some girls and.. well, I’m sure you can fill in the blanks.
The third track ‘Dive In’ is what Trey Songz does best – a sensual slow jam. Trey aptly described it as “the type of track that makes ladies want to take pictures of their legs in the bubble bath and put it on instagram”; you only have to hear the first verse to know that he’s probably right.
The remaining tracks, ‘Without a Woman’ and ‘Simply Amazing,’ arefeel good tracks for the ladies; ‘Without a Woman’ gives that classic Trey Songz vibe and feel and is an ode to woman and what it’d be like without us, did you expect anything less? Although a little different from his usual, ‘Simply Amazing’ has a clean, crisp feel and with lyrics like “She ain’t perfect, but she’s worth it,” this is sure to be amongst the faves.
We’re promised what Trey himself says is “essentially an R&B album,” with a splash of soul and a few club bangers. With no release date set, all we can do is wait patiently for Trey to bless us with his new masterpiece Chapter V – and from what we’ve heard so far, we’re in for a treat.

Chapter V is due for release Summer 2012.
